tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...

location...
tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow... well we are now only just under a week away from walking onto a live set... the past ten days have been a creative frenzy of activity... not least our second recce' up to our location in northern NSW... what a day... five of us including denson (d.o.p.) seth (vfx spervisor) gareth (production designer) phoebe (co-producer) and myself pulled our first (but definitely not last) 4am start to catch our flight to the gold coast... here the fun began... two of us made the plane while an un-named airline came down hard on their 30 minute policy with the other three, even though they were in the queue on time and only had carry on... 'twas a great opportunity for letting off some steam and the next flight was only an hour behind... Gareth our production Designer is working hard to transform the location into the feel and look that we want... camera tests and stunt rig tests and musical jams... has been a collaborative effort beyond the call and everyone is throwing 110 percent and long hours into getting shoot ready... watching all the elements come together and the constant challenges that present themselves are enough to keep the blood pumping at an increased rate... excitement and trepidation are words i might use to describe this current state of being... after all it is 1.49am and perhaps i should retire for the eve... til next installment... peace...

juggling the internet...

it's been a long day of logistical poetics over the internet... a bit like juggling electricity... i have to say how peculiar and incredibly normal it seems to be beginning the pre-production period over skype... can't fathom that the public internet has only existed since 1996... i am definitely looking forward to getting up to byron next week for visualization purposes and to get back into the feel of the community up there... particularly as the story emerges out of that beautiful landscape... i am also aware that being in sydney and meeting with all the key creatives will expand the vision for the film infinitely... hallelujah...

The beginning of the path to suspended...

So here we are.. gearing up for the official pre-production
period of SUSPENDED... I am extremely excited to be going into
production on my second film and feel grateful, not only for our
principal funding from Screen NSW, but also for the enthusiasm and
collaboration of the incredible and growing production team, crew and
cast who are instrumental in bringing this story to life... SUSPENDED
draws thematically on particularly personal recollections from my
childhood growing up in the counter culture of the 1970's in
Australia... The film deals with how we transcend our own fear through
imagination and the the dynamic magical reality that often seems
reserved for the wiring of our childhood psyche... We are keen to
create an opportunity, through this website, for people to stay in
tune with the developing production process and for one or two people
to get their hands dirty with us on set during the shoot in early may
(more on that in the coming days)... so I will be heading back to
Australian soil later in the week and am looking forward to delving
deeper into the location recce in Byron Bay as well as locking in the
rest of our team... stay tuned over the next little while for
updates...
